MADRID, January 17. (EUROPA PRESS) – Spanish footballer Lucas Vázquez, defender of Real Madrid, called on authorities to “monitor” the busy schedule, stressing that “for the sake of football, the spectacle and the players, we must take rest seriously ,” which he described as “extremely important” to perform well in matches like this Thursday against RC Celta de Vigo in the MAPFRE Copa del Rey.
“We have discussed this several times and made statements that the match schedules have been somewhat difficult. I believe we have played 90% or 80% of our matches at 9:00 p.m., and today at 9:30 p.m., with injury time, the time is now… and then we play again on Sunday at 4:15 p.m.,” Vázquez told Realmadrid TV after the Spanish giants secured a 5-2 win in round of 16.

“There is very little time to recover, and that’s how it is. However, we have to keep an eye on this, because for the sake of football, the spectacle and the players, we have to prioritize rest, which is crucial ,” underlined the Real Madrid right-back from the Santiago Bernabéu stadium.
-Notably, the Madrid players had to give their all to secure their place in the quarter-finals. “It was a game where we started well, taking a 2-0 lead, but towards the end we complicated things a bit, which took us into overtime.
