Two people were killed and another was seriously injured this Thursday during a knife attack at a high school in Slovakia. An 18-year-old student, suspected of being the attacker, was arrested.
In Spisska Stara Ves, a town in northeastern Slovakia near the border with Poland, a student killed at least two people and seriously injured another in a knife attack on Thursday January 16, the TASR news agency reported.
On the social network Facebook, the police indicated that “the 18-year-old student suspected of having committed a serious crime was arrested shortly after the incident”.
According to the Slovak Minister of the Interior, Matus Sutaj Estok, this student “stabbed a teacher and her high school classmates”.
“I condemn the attack on the student who stabbed the teacher and his classmates in the gymnasium. I am immediately going to the scene of the tragedy in Spisska Stara Ves,” the minister wrote on Facebook.

“I express my sincere condolences to the families of the victims and wish a speedy recovery to the injured,” he added.
In 2020, a teacher was killed in a stabbing attack at an elementary school in central Slovakia, the first violent attack of this type in a school in the country.
