Around thirty firefighters were mobilized this Thursday, shortly before noon, for a fire which broke out in an industrial hangar, located rue des Rouquettes in Cabestany. According to initial information, the fire started on the roof of the building, covered with photovoltaic panels, and spread into the attic, causing a significant release of smoke.
Thirteen employees were immediately evacuated, two of whom were examined by the rescue team and left behind.
The firefighters carried out a clearing operation to limit the progress of the fire. Which was definitively extinguished at 2:30 p.m. after destroying 20 m2 of solar panels and 30 m2 roofing.
Work carried out on the hangar could be the cause of the fire even if an investigation has been opened to determine the exact causes and circumstances.
