That’s it, the Switch 2 has just been revealed. But on Nintendo’s presentation video, the images of Mario and his friends on their karts are striking, and suggest that a Mario Kart 9 points his nose to the console output.
A more sober Switch 2?
The insiders will have been right. At least in part. On this Thursday, January 16, Nintendo spoke for the first time in many months, through a first presentation video of its future Nintendo Switch 2, before a live event responsible for revealing its long-awaited release date, as well as its price. Because yes, if we were expecting a date, Nintendo only mentioned a sober 2025.
On the other hand, Big N revealed the design of its Switch 2, with great emphasis on the Joy-Con. Larger, they abandon the rail system which was lacking in its predecessor, and simply ask players to clip them. If the firm does not reveal too much, through a video which skilfully reflects the ease with which it masters the codes of today’s communication, it still gives us a good overview of what will be this hardware, darker, and more banal, some will say.
Mario Kart 9 implied by Nintendo
But the other important point of this video is the rendering of a game of Mario Kart, in the background. Nintendo says nothing about future launch games in its video. However, we cannot help but be alerted by its images, when we know the impact that the publisher puts into its media releases. Seeing Mario and his friends on their karts at full speed is not trivial, and suggests that a Mario Kart 9 will be the – or one – of the launch titles when exiting the console.
-An assumption that is all the more credible as fans are firmly awaiting a sequel to Mario kart 8 Deluxe for eight years now. In addition, certain details are not misleading: a strange one “Mario Bros Circuit” located in the desert, at the heart of a circuit never seen before, as well a reworked Donkey Kong designwith black-rimmed eyes. More broadly, the game is part of the short list titles expected at launchor at the latest in the following months.
So, has Nintendo unofficially revealed its first game? Speculation is sure to abound around the future hit, whose predecessor is nothing more and nothing less than the best-selling game on the Switch.
