Several Russian sources say North Korea will participate in the Victory Day parade in Moscow next May. This event marks the victory of the former Soviet Union over Nazi Germany.
These sources told NHK that the North Korean military’s participation in the World War II victory ceremony on May 9 had already been decided.
They expect dozens of North Korean soldiers to participate.
According to other diplomatic sources, a North Korean military band will take part in a musical event in the Russian capital at the end of August.
The sources point out that the North Korean military would participate in these events for the first time.
Russia and North Korea have signed a comprehensive strategic partnership treaty, which provides for mutual military assistance in the event of an attack by either nation.
The two countries have strengthened their military cooperation. Pyongyang has sent soldiers to Russia as Moscow continues its invasion of Ukraine.
