For Antwerp, the Croky Cup matches follow one another but are not the same. There wasn’t much to see on the Antwerp side of the demonstration against the Union last week…
Seductive Mauves
The tension was nevertheless very present from the start of the match since after barely three minutes of play, Simic, Adryelson and Janssen saw yellow after some small frictions between the three men.
Anderlecht created the first two opportunities of the match. Edozie and Degreef both hit the post in the first quarter of an hour, after beating Corbanie and Odoi respectively.
Janssen alerted Coosemans for the first time shortly before the half-hour mark but the Mauves confirmed their domination straight away. After enormous work from Edozie who outpaced Corbanie and Odoi to cross the entire field with the ball, the Englishman shifted towards Degreef who concluded this action with great composure (1-0, 30th).
A soporific 2nd half
If Coosemans had to intervene again in front of Janssen following a bad pass from Edozie, Antwerp’s reaction was slow to come. It was even the Mauves who created the first opportunity after the break. On a small cross from Hazard – coming on in place of the injured Edozie – Degreef burst into the small rectangle but his head hit Lammens’ post.
That was almost all for the second period which Anderlecht were content to control against an Antwerp team which quickly gave up to concentrate on the return match in three weeks at Bosuil.

Anderlecht, for its part, will have managed its subject, even if the Mauves could have scored two or three goals moreover.
We’ll see you this weekend for the return of the championship. Thank you for following us and have a good evening everyone!
90’+4 – Anderlecht takes a (small) option for the final
The Mauves won this semi-final first leg of the Belgian Cup by the smallest of scores. Antwerp had entered the match well but it was Anderlecht who took the lead thanks to a goal from Degreef in the 30th minute. The Anderlecht team will still have wasted a lot of opportunities, notably with three posts. But the Mauves managed the second period well and Coosemans was not put in danger during almost the entire match.
90′ – There will be four minutes of added time
