A “police intervention is underway” in Meyzieu, in the metropolis of Lyon, announced the Rhône prefecture this Thursday, January 16, 2025 on X.
11:57 a.m.: A hostage taking in progress in Meyzieu
According to our information, a hostage-taking is underway in an apartment in the town of Meyzieu, rue de la République. There are reportedly at least two people being held by an armed man holed up in the home.
The mayor of Meyzieu, Christophe Quiniou, tells us that the hostage-taking is underway “in the western sector of the city, at the La Panière roundabout”. Law enforcement is calling for avoid the area.
