A hostage taking is currently underway in Meyzieu, in the metropolis of Lyon, this Thursday morning.
An armed man is said to be holding one or two people hostage, including a woman, in an apartment located rue de la République reports ACTU17. The circumstances of the incident as well as the suspect’s motivations still remain unclear.
A major security system was deployed on site. Police officers from the RAID branch, the elite unit specializing in this type of situation, were immediately sent to the scene to take charge of the intervention.
Authorities are urging caution and asking residents and motorists to avoid the area. The Rhône prefecture has also published a message on the social network
