From today, three ships carrying liquefied natural gas will successively dock in Tunisian commercial ports, announced Khaled Baltine, president and CEO of the Société Nationale de Distribution des Pétroles (Agil).
According to him, the first ship will dock today, Thursday January 16 at the port of Radès, followed by the second Friday at the port of Bizerte. As for the third ship, its arrival is in principle scheduled for Saturday January 18, 2025 at the port of Gabès.
Khaled Baltine also specified that the distribution centers in Tunisia, of which there are seven, produce around 180,000 bottles of domestic gas daily to supply households.
These deliveries aim to strengthen the gas supply and meet the needs of citizens during a period of high demand, knowing that a shortage of domestic gas cylinders has existed for a month, due to a delay in the arrival of several ships carrying gas. liquefied gas in Tunisian ports, according to official explanations.
-To respond to the exceptional increase in demand for domestic gas due to the cold snap, the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Energy has stepped up its actions.
Furthermore, by the end of the month, 12 ships will deliver additional gas cargoes. The usual daily consumption of 1,600 tonnes has reached a peak of 2,400 tonnes in recent days, an increase of 60%.
