The Rouen Normandy Metropolis wins the gold medal during the Victoires du Paysage

Initiated by the former Mayor and Presidents of Métropole Yvon Robert and Frédéric Sanchez, this project required a budget of 9 million euros to transform the city center into a greener, more walkable and more attractive space. It made it possible to reclassify the surroundings of major monuments in the city, such as the Cathedral, the Saint-Maclou Church, the Aître Saint Maclou and the Fierté Saint Romain.

“This award in the heritage category recalls what was at the heart of this project: creating modern living spaces, islands of freshness, improving the living environment of users, while enhancing the historic monuments which make up the character of the city . It’s a success! This neighborhood is now greener and much more accessible on foot. This is a big gain in attractiveness and a step towards a greener and healthier city. », welcomes Nicolas Mayer-Rossignol, Mayor of Rouen.

A distinction for the requalification of the Seine Cathédrale sector

The Seine Cathedral project highlighted the pedestrian connections with the Seine, offering new points of view on the architectural heritage of the district. Developments such as large steps to the south of the Cathedral to connect the café terraces, the transformation of Place de la Calende into a friendly, family-friendly place to live, and the creation of a plant network along the rue des Carmelites helped make the neighborhood more pleasant.

The project management of this project was ensured by the Atelier Villes et Paysage/Egis Ville/Les éclaireurs/Marie Caron/Péna Paysage group, which also submitted the candidacy for the Victoires du Paysage 2024. This gold medal rewards the efforts made to create a harmonious urban space, respectful of the environment and highlighting the historical heritage of the city of Rouen.
