A driver hit several cyclists on Tuesday January 14 in .

One of them was killed, the other two injured.

The motorist, who fled, was indicted.

The motorist who hit several cyclists in Rouen on Tuesday January 14, killing one of them, was indicted for “murder, attempted murder, aggravated refusal to comply and damage to the property of others”, announced this Thursday, January 16, the Rouen prosecutor. The driver, born in 1977, was placed under arrest warrant, Sébastien Gallois said in a press release.

This woman hit three cyclists in the city center of Rouen and then fled. She was arrested in Buchy, around thirty kilometers from where the events took place. A young woman, born in 1996, died shortly after the collision, while the two others were injured.

Eight complaints filed against the driver

“She related the facts to a deep psychological malaise, the cause of which she attributes to an old dispute with her employer”recalled the prosecutor. “An initial psychiatric assessment concluded that there was criminal liability, but with an alteration of discernment during the events”he indicated.

Four category C weapons (firearms requiring a permit) or D (which can be purchased and possessed freely under conditions, for example tear gas bomb or collector’s weapon) were found in the van of the forty-year-old.

These weapons “had been purchased following an attack to which the accused was allegedly the victim four years ago, and kept since”said Sébastien Gallois. For these facts, the driver was summoned for an appearance on prior admission of guilt.

In addition, the driver committed “numerous traffic offenses committed during the pursuit”, leading eight other people, uninjured, to file complaints.
