Firefighters from and Pont-l’Évêque intervened yesterday, at 1:30 p.m., for a fire on private land, on the RD48, route de Coquainvilliers, in Ouilly-le-Vicomte, near Lisieux.

According to group leader François Gaillard, a car caught fire and the fire spread to the garage located just behind. “The fire caused the garage to completely burn down, which is approximately 50 m long.2. There was equipment like a lawn mower and a mini tractor”, he explained.

The second adjoining wooden building, 30 m2was preserved thanks to the action of the firefighters. The owner was on site, but no casualties were reported. Two fire hoses were used. The fire was brought under control, and firefighters carried out “stripping” during the afternoon, consisting of removing the burned elements. According to the national police, the occupant “wanted to clean gasoline in his vehicle and sprayed a flammable product”. A second vehicle, parked nearby, was partially damaged by the flames. Traffic was cut off in only one direction (Pont-l’Évêque towards Lisieux), during the intervention, which lasted at least two hours.
