This Tuesday, January 14 around 10:30 p.m., firefighters were called to a fire in a terraced house, believed to belong to an American, in the center of Macôt, capital of La Plagne-Tarentaise, behind the Saint -Nicholas. Two victims were slightly burned and transported to the Bourg-Saint-Maurice hospital center. It took the intervention of fifty firefighters to completely control the fire.

According to testimonies from local residents, the fire first broke out at the home of an English owner, in one of the terraced houses downstream from the fire. “We were afraid. The fire could have spread to the entire block and even to the church or the grocery store,” says a neighbor still in shock. The origin of the fire is currently unknown.
