Ninety-four hostages captured on the day of the Hamas attack, October 7, 2023, are still in the Gaza Strip. According to Israeli intelligence services, 51 of them are still alive. Two other prisoners have been in this territory since 2014 and 2015 while Hamas still holds the bodies of two soldiers killed in 2014.
The ceasefire in the Gaza Strip from Sunday and the release of hostages is “an important and significant step that brings us closer to the moment when all the hostages will be returned, when the living will be reunited with their families and when the dead will be buried with dignity in their country,” said the Forum of Families of Hostages and the Missing, founded by hostage families after the October 7 attack.
