Before the match

The Belgian Cup inherited a final royal square composed, when approaching the semi-finals first leg on Wednesday and Thursday, of four of the first five classified in the championship: the leader Genk, Club Bruges (2nd), Antwerp (4th) and Anderlecht (5th).

It is even a clash between the first two which will launch the semi-finals. On Wednesday (8:45 p.m.), Club Brugge will host Genk. Both teams started the year perfectly. Bruges qualified for the semi-finals by beating Oud-Heverlee Louvain 3-0 before dominating the ‘Topper’ in Anderlecht 0-3 in the league.

The ‘Blauw-Zwart’ will be confident when they host Genk. But the Limburgers also negotiated the transition to 2025 well, with a 0-4 success at Sint-Truiden in the Cup and a 2-0 victory over OHL in the league.

Winner of the Belgian Cup 11 times, Bruges has not won this trophy since 2015. Its last final dates back to 2020. Genk won the last of its five cups in 2021.
