The Confederation of African Football (“CAF”) announced this Tuesday, January 14, the postponement of the CAF African Nations Championship (“CHAN”) – Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda 2024 to August 2025.
The supreme body of African football nevertheless specifies that “Significant progress has been made in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda with the construction and modernization of stadiums, training grounds, hotels, hospitals and other infrastructure and facilities for the successful organization of the African Nations Championship (“CHAN”) CAF – Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda 2024”.
“However,” the edict adds, “CAF’s technical and infrastructure experts, some of whom are based in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda, have required additional time to ensure that infrastructure and facilities are at the level necessary for successfully host the African Nations Championship (“CHAN”) CAF Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda 2024”.
Reacting to the situation, CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe said: “I would like to express my deep gratitude to President William Ruto of Kenya, President Samia Suluhu Hassan of Tanzania and President Yoweri Museveni of Uganda for their leadership, commitment and significant progress made in the construction and upgrading of stadiums, training grounds, hotels, hospitals and other infrastructure and facilities in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda to successfully host the African Nations Championship (“CHAN”) CAF – Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda 2024. I am impressed by the ongoing construction and renovation works of football infrastructure and facilities in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. I am confident that stadiums, training grounds, hotels, hospitals and other infrastructure and facilities will meet the standards required by CAF to host, in August 2025, an African Nations Championship (“CHAN”) TotalEnergies – Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda 2024 very successful. »

However, CAF will proceed to the draw for the African Nations Championship (“CHAN”) CAF – Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda 2024 in Nairobi, this Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at 8:00 p.m., Nairobi time, specifies the press release, to cut runs on the already widespread rumor of the postponement of the draw as well.
