In Los Angeles, as expected, the wind is blowing very strongly again on January 14. Gusts of up to 120 km per hour are expected in some areas. The fight against the fires, which has been underway for a week, therefore promises to be difficult and there are fears of new fires breaking out. The toll is already heavy: 24 dead, 12,000 buildings destroyed. It will take tens of billions of dollars to rebuild, according to Joe Biden.

Among the victims, anger is growing. At the entrance to the Pacific Palisades neighborhood, Sophia contains her anger. She still hasn’t been able to see her house. She is dressed in clothes donated by local residents. And for her, there are responsibilities to be established in this disaster. “I don’t want us to attack the firefighters,” she assures us. “They only obeyed orders. But At the highest level, I think there is a failure and that this problem must be resolved.”

Charles, a Frenchman who has lived here for 32 years, has experienced many fires. “They always put out fires because they were very organized,” he says. “The disaster happened because they were completely disorganized. That proves that they are incapable. We almost managed on our own. There are people who stayed up there, trying to put out the fire. When Palisades was still burning, there was a fire that broke out in Hollywood. The helicopters, the fire trucks, everyone went there. There were no more fire trucks in our area. No pressure in the fire hydrants, nothing at all.”

Very upset against the local authorities, Charles is asking today the resignation of the mayor of Los Angeles and the Governor of the State of California.
