During the on-court interview after his impressive victory against Andrey Rublev in the first round of the Australian Open, the great hope of Brazilian and world tennis, Joao Fonseca, responded to a question from Andrea Petkovic by quoting Roger Federer.
Andrea Petkovic (intervieweuse et ex‐9e world player) : “If I go to Brazil and want to buy your talent, how much money will I need? »
Fonseca: “It’s a bit unfair. As Roger says…talent is not enough. So I work a lot. Me and my team know that. »
The 18-year-old will face Lorenzo Sonego in the second round, who defeated Stanislas Wawrinka in four sets.
