Is a 34-year-old cold case about to be resolved in the Grand Est? A call for witnesses has just been launched to collect new information regarding the murder of a 10-year-old child, Anaïs Marcelli, in 1991.
Francis Heaulme, Michel Fourniret or the child’s grandfather… many hypotheses have been put forward for 34 years, however, none have been confirmed since the disappearance of Anaïs Marcelli, on January 14, 1991, returning from the ‘school. Our colleagues specify that the case had even been closed, after the proclamation of a dismissal of the case in 1997. But in 2015, the public prosecutor of Mulhouse reopened it. Ten years later, the investigation has not said its last word since a new call for witnesses has just been launched. It follows the seizure of the case by the Central Office for the Repression of Violence against Persons of the Judicial Police (OCRVP) of Nanterre, in 2022.

“Even 34 years later, people surely still have things to say. Whatever the reasons, some people did not speak at the time and perhaps today have the necessary perspective to do so and help us to move forward”, as explained by Maître Aurélie Jaafar, the lawyer for the victim’s mother, cited by France 3.
The body of the 10-year-old child was found, 3 months after his disappearance, bearing signs of strangulation. 34 years later, the OCRVP started from scratch, analyzing all the evidence and making new cross-references likely to provide the answers long awaited for 34 years about the Anaïs Marcelli mystery. An anonymous letter, dating from 1991, explaining “wanting to get pregnant” Anaïs will be subject to new analyses.
