The end of the first round of the Australian Open takes place this Tuesday in Melbourne. Gaël Monfils and Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard play a 5th set, while Varvara Gracheva avoided the “fanny” in French women’s tennis by winning her place for the 2nd round.
Monfils and Mpetshi Perricard in battle
Unsurprisingly, there were tiebreaks, a lot of tiebreakers between Gaël Monfils et Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard. This fratricidal duel will be played out in the 5th set: “La Monf” obtained two match points to win in three sets, but he committed a double fault on the first. The score: 7/6 (7), 6/3, 6/7 (6), 6/7 (5).
Note that there was only one break in this match won by Monfils…
