Boxing: Tyson Fury announces his retirement at 36

Tyson Fury, the former heavyweight champion, announced this Monday, via a video posted on his social networks, that he was ending his career. Aged 36, the “Gypsy King” leaves the rings after a final defeat against the Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk.

In a brief statement, Tyson Fury confirmed his decision: “ Hello everyone, I’ll keep this short. I would like to announce my retirement from boxing. I had a lot of fun, I loved every minute.«

The British boxer leaves behind an impressive record of 34 victories, including 24 by knockout, a draw and two defeats, the latter inflicted by Usyk.

While boxing fans were hoping for a long-awaited clash between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua this year, the deposed WBC belt holder chose not to continue his career.

However, the question of permanent retirement remains unresolved. Tyson Fury is not his first turnaround. In 2022, after his victory against Dillian Whyte, he had already announced his retirement before reversing his decision to face and defeat Derek Chisora in London.
