John Textor has not only made friends in France and Lyon since his arrival at OL. His recent desire to move the OL training center from Meyzieu to make way for the future OL women’s stadium is controversial.
OL must quickly find money, otherwise they will fall to Ligue 2 next season. The DNCG has been clear and will not negotiate with Les Gones. John Textor is under more pressure than ever and has already started to downsize the OL squad in order to save a few million euros. But more will be needed to stabilize Lyon’s finances and calm the DNCG. In recent days, John Textor also has in mind, in addition to sales on the transfer market, to earn almost 20 million euros by moving, according to information from The Teamthe OL Meyzieu training center to make way for the future OL women’s stadium. As expected, it doesn’t just make people happy.
Textor, the sudden stop
This is particularly the case of the city’s Mayor, Christophe Quiniou, who will go against John Textor’s idea. Indeed, in comments reported by La Tribune de Lyon, he indicated in recent hours: “There cannot be a stadium there, both in terms of the configuration of the city and in terms of service. There is certainly a tram, but I made my wishes there, and with 1,000 people parking is already the apocalypse, so with a stadium… It’s not very well served, there are a retirement home opposite, a recreational center and a music conservatory are being built 100 meters away, we are right in the city center… Meyzieu must also redo its stadium. I’m not saying yes or no. But all this requires more reflection with the Metropolis and the City. We must look to pool, for access”. A blow therefore to the dreams of millions of John Textor, who will have to quickly find a solution or common ground with Meyzieu. And it is not won.
