Consumer protection criticizes the prices of Swiss ski resorts practicing ‘dynamic prices’: transparency is often lacking for subscriptions or day passes. Likewise, the conditions for returns and exchanges are very heterogeneous.
A survey carried out among twelve ski resorts revealed that six of them do not indicate their minimum or maximum prices, the consumer protection association wrote on Monday. Without these indications, customers do not know whether a fare is cheap or expensive.
The stations are suspected of practicing variable price dynamics depending on demand. This is with the sole aim of making maximum profits.
When asked, the Remontées Mécaniques Suisses (RMS) replied that setting prices is the business of each company. In international comparison, Switzerland’s largest ski areas are not too expensive, even on peak days.
-Many Swiss ski areas continue to have fixed prices. Customers therefore have alternative options.
