Saturday January 25 in Formerie, the 50th edition of the Domino d’Or will be held, in honor of Joël Coutard, its president for twenty-six years, who died on December 8, 2024.
Double-six fans, the Domino d’Or competition will take place. With these words, the Domino d’Or association brushes aside questions about the holding of its annual event.
Legitimate questions given that the Domino d’Or had the pain of losing, on December 8, 2024, its president Joël Coutard, winner of the Domino d’Or in 1994 in Campeaux, before becoming a member of the Domino d’Or and becoming president in 1998.
A few days earlier, on December 2, 2024, Joël Coutard and the Domino d’Or committee had presented a check for €1,400 to Madame Fournier Termoul, representative of the Departmental Committee of the League against Cancer.

Thus, the Domino d’Or will be played on Saturday January 25, 2025, from 2 p.m., at the Louis-Aragon village hall in Formerie.
This edition, “organized by the Domino d’Or committee of the former canton of Formerie will be played for the benefit of the Departmental League against cancer and in memory of the president, Joël Coutard, who died suddenly on December 8“, indicates the committee.
Three pools will be open to everyone and all ages. Then will follow the Domino d’Or pool, open to adult residents of the former canton of Formerie. Many prizes will be up for grabs in each group.
For cancer research
“This competition contributes to the pursuit of research in the fight against cancer, a scourge which still claims too many victims, despite the notable progress that has been made in recent years. Come and contribute to this building which is the fight against cancer during this competition.”
underlines the Domino d’Or committee
That day, Olivier Thillard, from Formerie, winner in 2024, will put the Golden Domino he holds back into play.
