The Iroise Ukraine association does not give up its support for Ukrainian soldiers. Apart from the collection of newspapers, which made it possible to deliver, on Thursday January 9, 2025, more than 800 kg of newspapers, people can also donate all kinds of foodstuffs which will be transported, by truck, to the Ukrainian soldiers. “It’s organized well and people are receptive. We are present at the E. Leclerc drive every Saturday and people leave their newspapers and give some treats which always please the soldiers,” says Mimi Fraboulet.
Until January 23, 2025 to write a letter
Another initiative is also to be put in the name of the association: “We have decided to set up a mailbox where people can write letters to soldiers. Whether it’s a drawing, an image, a few comforting words of peace and happiness, anything that could help them forget their daily life. I will collect the mail on Thursday at the Guilers market. We have set a deadline of January 23, 2025. Then, we will have all these letters translated into Ukrainian by Olena, a young Ukrainian who has taken refuge in France for two years and attends the Sainte-Marie de Guilers college,” further indicates Mimi Fraboulet.
Olena is very active in Guilers. She is a dancer in the Ukrainian dance ensemble Tanok, created by Ukrainian refugees, and also participated and won a national English competition “The big Challenge” this summer. For her, translating letters for her compatriots is “a great pleasure to be able to participate in this support of the soldiers on the front”: “I am both very proud and happy to be able to continue on my own scale, to help my country and the soldiers who fight for our lives, our future and our freedom.
