PREMATCH

The Habs will try to avoid being swept in their seasonal series against the leaders of the Eastern Association. He suffered a 6-3 loss in the American capital on October 31, before losing a two-goal lead in a 4-2 loss on December 7 at the Bell Centre.

The squad of head coach Martin St-Louis will face “Ovi” for a second and final time this season, the Russian having missed the meeting in Montreal. However, if the playoffs had started at the end of Monday’s matches, the CH would have been assured of a first round duel with Washington. This is therefore a great opportunity to send a message to the opponent, while giving yourself more confidence.

“Hands up!”: Jakub Dobes gave the CH players confidence –

St-Louis will rely on Jakub Dobes to defend the net. The Czech won his first two career starts in the National League. Consequently, Samuel Montembeault should face the Dallas Stars on Saturday. For their part, Patrik Laine and David Savard did not travel with their teammates and will each miss a fourth meeting in a row.

Among the Capitals, Quebecer Pierre-Luc Dubois will be one to watch. He also scored twice on Wednesday to lead his team to a 2-1 victory in overtime at the expense of the Vancouver Canucks. Coming back to Ovechkin, he has 872 goals in the National League.

“I took another step-up” – Pierre-Luc Dubois –
