Montreal Canadiens forward Patrik Laine, who missed the team’s last three games due to flu symptoms, returned to regular training Thursday in Brossard.
Wearing his full equipment, the big winger skated with his teammates for the first time since he withdrew before the January 3 game against the Chicago Blackhawks. He also put on the skates on Wednesday, shortly before the team’s training. However, the organization revealed in the afternoon that Laine will not accompany his teammates to Washington, where they will face the Capitals on Friday.
In 13 games this season, the Finn has scored eight goals and two assists.
Savard too
Absent for four games due to an upper body injury, veteran David Savard also skated with his teammates. But just like Laine, the defender will remain in Montreal and will forfeit against the Capitals.
-In addition, goalkeeper Jakub Dobes will be in action in the American capital. Consequently, Samuel Montembeault should face the Dallas Stars on Saturday at the Bell Center.
