After a continuous decline in population, going from 23,135 inhabitants in 2010 to 20,694 in 2021, Beaune begins a recovery from 2022 with a gain of 154 inhabitants. Virginie Leviel explains: “ This recovery results from our housing construction policy and the regular updating of the directory of located buildings (RIL) ».
The legal populations, calculated on a five-year average, indicate a reference of 20,848 inhabitants on January 1, 2022, a figure which will apply from 2025.

The information collected is strictly anonymous and intended exclusively for statistical purposes. Each enumerator, identified by an official photo card, is subject to professional secrecy. Privacy is a top priority.

Please note: the census is free. Any request for payment is fraudulent.
A dedicated team
Four community agents – Christine Benoit, Thierry Chappez, Sylvie Garnaud, and François Maire – were trained this Monday by INSEE to ensure the smooth running of this operation. Their role includes raising awareness among residents and collecting data in compliance with the rules.
The family investigation in parallel
In addition, a Family Survey will complete the census. Carried out approximately every ten years, it aims to better understand the lifestyles of families. Only certain areas will be affected, and an additional sheet will be distributed to men in each selected household.
By participating, the inhabitants of Beaune contribute directly to the development and future of their municipality. A civic responsibility that benefits everyone.
