Since 2022, everyone can participate in improving the living environment by participating in participatory budgets.
For the 4th year, the City is offering to participate in improving the living environment by sharing its ideas for the municipality thanks to participatory budgets. This year, a theme has been defined: equality in public space. Submission of proposals from January 6 to February 28.
Since 2022, this initiative has offered everyone the opportunity to act for their city via their participatory budgets. Part of the municipality’s budget is thus mobilized so that the community can carry out the ideas proposed by residents with the winning project leaders.
This envelope of 100,000 euros, distributed between the 4 Agoras (€25,000 per Agora) aims to promote equality in the city through development projects in all types of areas (sport, culture, solidarity, nature in city, social connection…).
For the first time, participatory budgets are focused on a defined theme. This is equality in the broad sense: origin, sexual orientation, gender, disability, size, morphology, etc.
Over the last three editions, 37 projects have been selected by the population. We can cite the installation of distributors of healthy and free hygienic protection, the creation of accessible picnic tables or even the establishment of inclusive children’s games. Some have already been completed.
Several times for exchanges and the emergence of ideas are planned during the ideas submission phase: during greetings to the population and to associations and traders on January 10 and 13 at 6:30 p.m. at the Jacques Brel space , during a citizen café on January 14 and February 4 at 5:30 p.m. at Escambi. Other meetings are planned during the months of January and February in order to reach out, in particular, to the audiences most impacted by the issue of equality in the public space.
Several steps
The 2025 participatory budget takes place in several phases. From January 6 to February 28, everyone is invited to submit their project online at the town hall or at their Agora office (Go to castanet-tolosan.fr to find out their agora). Participatory budget guides including a project form in paper format will also be available at the town hall and at the EVS.
From March 3 to April 21, City services study the feasibility of the various projects.
From May 5 to June 30, people who live, work or study in Castanet vote for their favorite projects or on paper forms available at the town hall.
From the end of 2025 and in 2026, the projects are carried out.
