It’s a disastrous start to the year 2025 for the hair salon “Chez Mathilde”, in the city center of Clermontin the Oise. The business has been closed urgently and “until further notice” since Friday January 3, after a fire occurred in the apartment just above.
The flames had started the same day, in the morning, in a building in the rue de la Républiquereleasing a thick cloud of smoke from a window of the first floor accommodation.
A man took refuge on the roof to escape the fire, before being rescued by firefighters. That morning, an impressive security device had been deployed in the city center.
Technical unemployment and no help from the town hall
No casualties were reported in the disaster. But the hair salon giant can no longer practice her profession…
“Between fire and water, everything is become impractical »laments Mathilde Decuigniere, who has been running this show since 2022. “My employee and my apprentice are going to be unemployed. I am now awaiting the conclusions of the gendarmerie investigation.”
The year is off to a very bad start. We didn’t ask for anything and this is what’s happening to us. For the moment, I have not received any help from the town hall, I feel a little alone. I hope the mayor of my town will do something.
The manager also highlights the profile of her neighbor, occupying the accommodation which caught fire. A man with whom she has already had disagreements because of “nuisance” or “fights”. But the cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
The manager promises a reopening
The hairdresser can, however, count on the precious support of its customers. “The best support they can give me is that if one day the salon reopens, I can see them again,” emphasizes the trader.
In the main street of Clermont, the person concerned intends to resume her activity. “It is certain that I will reopen the salon one dayalthough I don’t know when. I won’t give up! »
