La Rosaleda is booming for football. A perfect example of this enthusiasm was the historic crowd that literally filled the stadium during the Copa del Rey showdown, where Marbella pushed Atlético de Madrid to their limits to clinch a place in the round of 16.
Following this thrilling experience, national championship action returns to Martiricos. Málaga CF are back at home, a venue they haven’t played since December 18, when they heavily defeated CD Eldense.
For the first clash of the second half of the season, the historic Deportivo de La Coruña will visit El Templo. This encounter features two newly promoted teams, fighting to distance themselves from the relegation zone… or whatever else may happen to them.
The fans, fully aware of the importance of this match, supported their team to the point that on Tuesday morning, January 7, the ‘sold out’ sign was displayed even though all available tickets had been sold out.

This situation could change in the coming days, depending on whether season ticket holders from Málaga, planning not to attend the match, vacate their seats. Either way, this event is shaping up to be the best turnout at La Rosaleda so far this season.
Training resumes, in Castel’s absence.
The team held its first practice of the week, focusing on preparations for the second half of the season. During Tuesday’s morning session, Pellicer’s team continued their preparations for the match on Saturday, January 11 at 6:30 p.m., at La Rosaleda against RC Deportivo.
Around 10:30 a.m., the players took the field and followed a routine of physical activation and technical-tactical exercises.
Sergio Castel has trained aside due to discomfort in the soleus of his left leg and is awaiting further diagnostic tests. Alongside him, David Larrubia, Dani Lorenzo and Haitam Abaida continue their rehabilitation processes. Coming from La Academia MCF, goalkeeper Andrés Céspedes, Antoñito Cordero, Izan Merino and Aaron Ochoa joined the training squad.
