According to information from France Bleu Provence, a jewelry store in Hyères, in the Var, was the victim of a burglary particularly ingenious between December 31 and January 2.
Between 200,000 and 300,000 euros in damage
It was the day after New Year’s Eve, when the business opened, that the jeweler discovered the extent of the theft. The criminal(s) managed to enter the store by breaking through a party wall overlooking commerce.
Once inside, the thieves stole a large quantity of precious goods: rings left by customers, jewelry displayed in the windows, the cash register, as well as a kilo of gold intended for remelting.
The prejudice total is estimated between 200,000 and 300,000 euros.

The theft took place during the jewelry store’s closing period. The victim filed burglary complaint and an investigation was opened by local authorities.
The police are now focusing on the clues left by the burglars, with the hope of quickly finding the culprits.
