Gavin Lux is heading to Cincinnati

In the last hours, there are two names that have been linked to the Yankees: Gavin Lux and Luis Arraez. Both can play second base.

But now Lux, whose name has also been linked to the Mariners, has just learned that it is in Ohio, under the colors of the Reds, that he will continue his career. He was traded for a compensatory pick and prospect.

The Cincinnati Reds traded Jonathan India to make room in the infield earlier this offseason. But there, Lux is added and that changes the situation.

Jeimer Candelario, Christian Encarnacion-Strand, Spencer Steer, Matt McClain (the club’s second baseman), Santiago Espinal and Noelvi Marte are all options.

Elly De La Cruz is not an option: he is the starting shortstop.

Is it possible that, as Jim Bowden pointed out, Lux would still be traded to the Yankees? It would be a fit a little more logical for the Bombardiers, in any case… but the journalist finally retracted, affirming that Lux would play second, third and outfield.

In Los Angeles, the arrival of Hye-seong Kim opened the door for Lux’s departure. Now, could Betts get some playing time at second base, opening shortstop in some games?

Kim, Andy Pages and James Outman will fight for the same playing time. The defensive versatility of Tommy Edman (center field, middle infield) will also help the LA club

  • Red Sox out of Alex Bregman case?
  • Michael Lorenzen remains in Kansas City.
  • Luis Arraez, not one fit in New York?
