“The Brutalist” won the coveted Best Motion Picture Drama award at the Golden Globe Awards on Sunday.
The post-war epic beat out the competition (‘A Complete Unknown’, ‘Conclave’, ‘Dune: Part Two’, ‘Nickel Boys’ and ‘September 5’) to take home one of the biggest awards in the evening. Writer-director Brady Corbet – who previously won the Best Director award – recalled being warned the film wasn’t “releasable”, while urging studios to give filmmakers a chance and their visions.
He told the audience at the Beverly Hilton Hotel: “I am incredibly moved. I had prepared one speech, not two. I have to thank everyone here who repeatedly banked on this film that kept falling apart. They held on through thick and thin, I love you all, I am very grateful.”
