The industrial commissioner of Val-d’Or, Jean-Yves Poitras, died on Sunday following a long illness, announced the Val-d’Or Industrial Development Corporation (CDIVD).
Jean-Yves Poitras, emblematic figure of the economic development of Val-d’Or
received the insignia of the Order of Val-d’Or last September.
He worked for 22 years within the Val-d’Or Industrial Development Corporation.
He notably promoted the creation of the Mining Transit Center, Technobois, the Housing Corporation and the Novinor innovation zone project.
Jean-Yves was not only an outstanding leader, but also an invaluable colleague and friend. His dedication to the community was second to none and his legacy will live on in the history of our organization and our city

The deceased was also involved with the Canadian Multiple Sclerosis Society of Abitibi-Témiscamingue and the Integrated Health and Social Services Center (CISSS-AT), particularly on the fixed assets committee.
