Three 16th finals of the Crédit Mutuel IDF Seniors Cup took place this Sunday, January 5, including that of Mée Sports (R1) which hosted Val Crosne (R1). The Mens players won 1-0 and will play in the round of 16 of the competition. A look back at this qualification with the coach of the Seine-et- team, Youssouf Abdallah.

After spending the holidays at the top of Group B of Seniors R1, the team Mée Sports restarted the year with a 16th final of the Crédit Mutuel IDF Paris Cup. The Mens players hosted an opponent from their championship this Sunday, Val Yerres Crosne. Victory 1 goal to 0 for Youssouf Abdallah’s men who confirm their good first part of the season. Le Mée Sports will travel to the FC Fleury 91 2 for its round of 16 on January 15. A look back at the qualification and the first half of the season of the Méenne team with the coach, Youssouf Abdullah.

“It was a return match for us, who were in a good position before the return of the championship. We have not minimized this meeting, but the R1 championship being very tough with a high pace, we have a lot of difficulty putting the same team composition together every Sunday. This round therefore theoretically allowed us to rotate so that certain players could take a breather. Except that with the massacre of injured players, those suspended and those absent due to vacation, we almost played with our typical team. Apart from the U18s, everyone who played is in our working group.

It was a close match against Val Yerres Crosne, rather tactical where we conceded a few chances. But at the end of the match, we deserved to score one or two more goals, just like them who could have scored. I remain very happy with the performance of my team. I asked them to let go a little bit because the championship matches are very tense and we don’t necessarily have the opportunity to play a lot. This Sunday, we saw a little more play so yes I am satisfied with the content and result.

For the 8th final against Fleury, I hope that we will have some returns from vacation and injuries which will allow us to field a team that resembles that of the championship. This is another group from our group that we met during the first day of the championship. They are capable of having a very good team with the National 2 descents. It is not easy to play reserve teams because we never know what sauce they will want to eat us. We will have to adapt to the descents. I still think that we have a coherent team, a solid group that wants to do well. I already won the Paris Cup in 2019 with the Cesson club, which was playing in R2 at the time. It was a beautiful epic that I would like to repeat this year. We’re going to try to get to the end of this cup and bring it home.

In the championship, the idea is to continue to collect points, the fall champion title means nothing. Many teams have done this before and not finished as champions. I wouldn’t say that we weren’t aiming for the climb, but initially we always said to ourselves that we needed to keep up quickly. This is my first season as head coach in R1, I mainly did R2 and R3. We are not going to put the cart before the horse, we are going to try to quickly seek this maintenance which can be acquired with one or two victories. Then we will see where we are placed and how we can play the final sprint with the others. The climb is starting to weigh on our minds a little, we’re going to fight to stay where we are as long as possible, come what may. »
