Arsenal squandered the chance to move within three points of English Premier League leaders Liverpool after Joao Pedro’s second-half penalty earned Brighton & Hove Albion a draw 1 -1.

As in the first leg in August, Pedro, who was fouled by William Saliba, scored his penalty in the second half, thus depriving the Gunners of victory at the Amex Stadium. Young Ethan Nwaneri gave Arsenal the lead in the 16th minute, making a magnificent run down the right before finishing with a low shot into the far corner. Brighton looked to score a late decisive goal but Arsenal held on, extending their unbeaten run in the league to 10 matches.

Arsenal maintains second place in the Premier League standings while Brighton, without a victory in the league since November 23, finds itself in 10th position. The Gunners, with 11 wins and just two defeats after the same number of games, are five points behind Liverpool. The latter, with two games in hand, hosts Manchester United this Sunday at 8:30 p.m. at Anfield. A thrilling match not to be missed!
