Two-man bobsleigh world champion Lisa Buckwitz claimed her second victory in the third single-bob World Cup race. At the Winterberg race, the German pushed the strong Melanie Hasler from Aargau into second place (+0.09 seconds) with two best start times and a track record of 58.25 seconds. Australian Breeana Walker (+0.28) came third ahead of Hasler’s teammate Debora Annen (+0.41).
For Hasler, 26, who continues to improve, this is the second podium in the Mono World Cup.
The return of Vogt
Two-time Olympic champion Francesco Friedrich scored his third victory in the two-man bobsled in the fourth race. With his world champion pusher Alexander Schüller, he relegated Adam Ammour to second place with 0.21 seconds ahead. Johannes Lochner, winner for the last time in Sigulda, completed the German triple success with the pusher Joshua Taschen.
From a Swiss point of view, the return of Michael Vogt was pleasing. Vogt, who suffered a serious crash last season and had to undergo back surgery at the end of the summer, had two strong races with pusher Andreas Haas and finished seventh.
