The Schwyz resident took the lead from the first seconds of the slalom in the Slovenian resort. A first victory in two years seems within reach. Camille Rast, 3rd, and Mélanie Meillard, 6th, are also well placed before the second round.

Wendy Holdener opened the first run of the Kranjska Gora slalom with a great demonstration on Sunday. At the head of the table, tied with young Croatian star Zrinka Ljutić, the Schwyz native could claim her first World Cup victory in two years.

Compared to the giant of the day before in the Slovenian resort, the track did not pose too many problems for the skiers on a route by American coach Žan Špilar. Wendy Holdener, however, knew how to perfectly measure her attack to take the lead. And at the latest after the passage of Zrinka Ljutić, exceptional during the slalom in Semmering a week ago, it was clear that the Swiss had delivered a demonstration.

Camille Rast, despite a not really perfect round, was very strong at the end and placed 3rd at 0″32. Mélanie Meillard, who had not competed in the giant in Slovenia to spare her knee, was back and in good shape, achieving one of the best times in the first sector before losing her line a little further on. She ranks in a solid 6th position.
