On Saturday evening, weather-related chaos reigned at Zurich airport. First snowfall, then freezing rain led to delays in flight operations and ultimately flight cancellations.
I like the online portal 20min.ch Currently reported, 43 flights have had to be canceled. Including long-haul routes suisse to São Paulo, Singapore or Johannesburg. Bei Edelweiss Flights to Hurghada, Gisa or Victoria could not take place as planned. Several planes were pushed away from the gate and left, but ultimately had to leave and remain at Zurich airport. This is demonstrated by data from the live tracking service Flightradar24.com.
But passengers on planes taking off or landing also had to wait a long time. The flight of Oman Airline bound for Muscat was pushed back from the boarding gate at 9:36 p.m. Then deicing followed, and finally the Boeing 878 Dreamliner took off at 11:05 p.m.
Arrivals also sometimes took longer. For example, the Swiss flight from Barcelona, carried out with a Helvetic machine. The landing took place at 11:05 p.m. and the plane was at the gate at 11:42 p.m.
The last plane took off shortly before midnight on runway 32, heading north. It was the Turkish one in Gaziantep.
