The setbacks of Justin Trudeau, who is facing a crisis over his leadership, put “the future of Canada at stake,” argues the Quebec lieutenant of conservative leader Pierre Poilievre, Pierre Paul-Hus, who demands elections “as quickly as possible.” possible”.

“Seeing Justin Trudeau thinking about his future is the least of the Conservative side’s worries, obviously,” he whispered during an interview with LCN.

According to him, the negotiations which are beginning with the new American administration, the “faltering” Canadian economy, the rise in crime and the problems at the borders make the arrival of a new government urgent.

“Everyone says it, the Liberal government is finished. We may change Justin Trudeau, but that will change absolutely nothing in the fact that the team that is in place is the team that caused the problems we are currently experiencing,” said the elected official from Charlesbourg – Haute-Saint-Charles.

Conservative MPs still intend to table a motion of censure on January 30, a few days after the start of the parliamentary term.

“Normally, the other two opposition parties are with us. So, from the moment we have a possibility of having a vote of censure, we should have majority support and have this vote which will allow us to defeat the government and go into an electoral campaign,” argued Mr. Paul-Hus.

“I think what remains to be done is an election as quickly as possible. Canadians will decide and we will have a government that will be more solid to meet the demands of the Americans and [à] all the other problems we have to deal with,” he continued.
