Lhe video of an Israeli hostage held in Gaza since October 7, 2023 was released by the armed wing of Hamas this Saturday, January 3, reports in particular The Times of Israël. In these images of approximately 3 minutes and 30 seconds, the date of recording of which we do not know, we can see Liri Albag speaking in Hebrew and asking the government of Benyamin Netanyahu to act in order to obtain his release.

The young woman, now aged 19, was kidnapped while doing her military service at the Nahal Oz base in southern Israel. Six other female soldiers were also kidnapped that day. Five are still captive.

“Efforts continue”

“The video published today tore our hearts,” Liri Albag’s family reacted in a statement. “She’s not the daughter, the sister we know. She’s not doing well. His immense psychological distress is obvious,” assure those close to him. “We appeal to the Prime Minister, world leaders and all decision-makers: it is time to make decisions as if they were your own children.”

Benyamin Netanyahu told X (formerly Twitter) in response to the video that Israel continued “to work tirelessly to bring Liri and all the hostages home and that efforts continue, including currently.” In total, 96 hostages are still detained in Gaza. As of October 7, 2023, 251 people had been kidnapped.
