On the eve of the clash between Lille and Nantes, Bruno Genesio expressed his satisfaction at finding Anthony Lopes, new goalkeeper for the Canaries.
The northern coach spoke of his special bond with the 34-year-old goalkeeper, whom he knew both in training and in the professional team, highlighting the symbolism of this meeting.
“Seeing Anthony again is a wink, a sign of destiny,” Genesio said at a press conference. The Lille coach did not fail to recall the difficult situation Lopes went through after his departure from Lyon, a club where he played for 24 years. “It’s a special moment, he suffered a lot after a bitter end in Lyon. But I am delighted that he has found a Ligue 1 club where he can finally play again,” he added.
Genesio also spoke about his regular exchanges with Lopes during his period of uncertainty. “I’m happy that he can put the gloves on again,” concluded the LOSC coach, visibly happy for his former player, now ready to do battle with him on the pitch.
