The day of the stone, the story of a stone in a shoe and of an endless day but above all it is a poetic story of friendship that Anaïs Flogny and Vero Cazot tell us.
The two women join forces for a very beautiful album which explores the complexity of human relationships and the difficulty of accepting the end of some of them. Anaïs Flogny’s aerial style accompanies the story of these acrobatic characters who express themselves as much through their gestures as through their words.
The light black lines give way to dramatic flat areas, serving a story that is more complex than it seems. The clear line technique used here with great dynamism. Anaïs Flogny accurately places the characters and their emotions at the center of her boards. As for Vero Cazot’s screenplay, it reveals its plot little by little, like a play.
This exhibition presents a large selection of single and double plates created by Anaïs Flogny for this album and it is also an opportunity to immerse yourself in the works of this new face of comics.
ABOUT ANAÏS FLOGNY
Anaïs Flogny was born in 1999 in Paris. Raised by two parents who were artists and readers, she became interested in comics very early on. This passion has pushed her to create, since 2016, solo or collective artbooks and fanzines for conventions (Harajuku, Paris City Pop, etc.).
After studying at the music conservatory and a scientific baccalaureate, she moved to Nantes for her studies. Graduating in illustration in 2021, she began working freelance for publishing houses like Auzou, Syros, 3rd Total Publishing or Scholastics.
If the drawings of René Gruau, Austin Briggs, Kamome Shirahama or Cyril Pedrosa inspire her, she also likes to draw from the music of Brassens, the words of Pierre Lemaître and Tonino Benacquista as well as the graphic world of design from the 1950s .
In January 2024, Anaïs Flogny released her first album, Distant Shores, by Dargaud, already translated into several languages.
In January 2025, she presents The Day of the Stone at Dupuis with Vero Cazot on the screenplay.
