Aubrey Plaza, revealed in the series Parks and Recreation and recently starring in The White Lotus, is facing a personal tragedy. This Friday, January 3, 2024, emergency services were called to her home by her husband’s assistant Jeff Baena. When they arrived, they could only note the death of the filmmaker, aged only 47. An investigation is underway to determine the exact causes of his sudden death.
A notable debut behind the camera
Born in Miami, Jeff Baena developed a passion for cinema very early on. After studying in New York, he began his career in Los Angeles as a screenwriter. His first feature film as a director, Life After Beth, released in 2014, earned him rave reviews. He then confirmed his talent with The Little Hours in 2017. Asked about his job, he confided at the time: “It’s all I ever wanted to do. I have been a screenwriter for 12 years but my goal has always been to direct. It was my intention from the beginning and it seemed natural to me.” Jeff Baena leaves behind a promising filmography also including Joshy (2016), Horse Girl (2020) and more recently Spin Me Round (2022).
