Valencia – World footballer Vinícius Júnior apologized to his teammates after being sent off during Real Madrid’s La Liga match against FC Valencia. The Brazilian superstar received a red card in the 79th minute for poking the opponent’s goalkeeper Stole Dimitrievski behind the back when the score was 0:1. However, the Whites turned things around in a dramatic outcome, winning the match 2:1. “Sorry and thank you, team,” Vinícius Júnior wrote on X.
After Jude Bellingham equalized in the 85th minute, he secured a late victory for Real in the fifth minute of injury time. The former Dortmund player had previously missed a penalty which could have given Madrid the equalizer earlier in the match (55th minute).
Vinícius Júnior now faces the possibility of a longer suspension, having been retained by Antonio Rüdiger following his sending off. However, the coach announced plans to challenge the decision. “We will file an appeal. I don’t know if they will accept it. We believe it was not a red card,” said the Italian.
