The Brazilian footballer received a red card after hitting Dimitrievski in the face.
Vinicius made headlines again at Mestalla, where he suffered the second red card of his career. Back in the stadium where he began his fight against racism, amid the mocking chants of ‘che’ supporters of “Vinicius Balón de Playa”, in reference to Rodri’s success against him, the Brazilian was once again under the spotlight.
Real Madrid secured victory against Valencia, but it wasn’t thanks to The Best. In fact, they did it in spite of him, because his usual behavior, which until now seemed to go unpunished, was finally punished. Vinicius saw his first red card of the season in the second half (the second he received at Mestalla), after reacting violently towards Dimitrievski, requiring Soto Grado to consult VAR.

The incident occurred without the ball being in play. The Valencia goalkeeper confronted Vinicius about yet another challenge in the area, which displeased the Brazilian, who got up and hit Dimitrievski on the face with his hands, making the red card inevitable.
This is how Soto Grado justified it in the match report afterwards: “In the 79th minute, the player (7) De Oliveira Do Nascimento, Vinicius José, was sent off for the following reason: For hitting deliberately hit an opponent in the head, without the ball being in play, using a non-trivial force.”
“Once sent off, the player had to be restrained by club members and taken to the locker room while he continued his protests,” adds Soto Grado in the Valencia-Real Madrid report.
With Vinicius’ action against Dimitrievski considered aggression, the situation for Real Madrid ahead of the Spanish Super Cup couldn’t be worse, as they will lose the Brazilian for this match.

In any case, Vinicius is expected to face a four-match suspension for the incident at Mestalla, up to a maximum of twelve matches, although this scenario is not anticipated. The first game he would miss would be the Copa del Rey against Deportiva Minera, followed by the Super Cup semi-finals against Mallorca, and a possible final if Real Madrid progress.
Real Madrid are expected to appeal the sanction in an attempt to reduce the punishment for Vinicius Jr and get him back on the pitch as soon as possible. “We will appeal, we think it is not a red card,” Ancelotti told a press conference.
