The Winter Transfer Market opened on January 2 and will remain open throughout the month. Córdoba FC has already made a move with the arrival of Jon Magunazelaia and other recruits are expected. Excluding this transfer window, the Blanquiverde entity recorded a total of 17 signings during the winter market in the five seasons where Infinity, the Bahraini investment group that owns Unión Futbolística Cordobesa SAD (UFC), managed the January reinforcements.
These 17 incorporations were distributed annually with six in 2020, three in 2021, one in 2022, five in 2023 and two in 2024. In addition, three directors have already taken the reins of sports management: Alfonso Serrano, Miguel Valenzuela and Juan Gutierrez ‘Juanito’. Two CEOs have also been part of the club’s journey, Antonio Fernández Monterrubio and Javier González Calvo. This is Monterrubio’s second winter window at the head of the sports commission, where César Sánchez also plays an important role.

Infinity arrived in December 2019, with little time to deal with the 2020 winter market, where they strengthened the team with six signings. Álex Robles, Jordi Tur, Carlos Valverde, Thierry Moutinho, Willy Ledesma and Federico Piovaccari have all joined Córdoba. Among them, only Willy left an imprint on the team, being crucial during the Segunda Federación season, while the others were unable to help the team achieve their goal of returning to professional football.
In 2021, under the leadership of Miguel Valenzuela, Córdoba brought in Alberto Ródenas, Moussa Sidibé and Nahuel Arroyo. This was perhaps the least successful winter market, as the team was ultimately relegated from Segunda División B to Segunda Federación. In 2022, the winter market brought the club its greatest success in recent years. This marked Juanito’s debut as sporting director, and the only signing was Dragisa Gudelj. Unfortunately, heart problems halted his career, but he proved to be a reliable central defender in professional football.

Having reached the Primera Federación, where Córdoba leads the standings, the club decided to let six players leave. To strengthen the squad, the sports management made the same additions: Antonio Caballero, Armando Shashoua, Antonio Castaño ‘Canario’, Marco Camus and Juan Villar. None of these players managed to stand out at Córdoba, who ended up having a disastrous second half of the season, missing the promotion play-offs.
Last year, Juanito remained in charge of sports management but with a new CEO, Antonio Fernández Monterrubio. Córdoba only made two signings: Álvaro Leiva and Martínez. The young winger barely played for the Blanquiverdes. The central defender remains in the team today and is making a good impression in Segunda, despite physical problems. So far this year, the only recruit has been Jon Magunazelaia, on loan from Real Sociedad.
