Deportivo Garcilaso is not neglecting the construction of its new group for the 2025 season.

With just a few days before the kick-off of a new edition of Liga 1, various teams are accelerating their recruitment efforts to complete their squads. Deportivo Garcilaso is among them, having added a new reinforcement.

The Imperial team aims to be a key player in 2025, especially after having to make do with surviving in the domestic league last year, failing to qualify for international tournaments.

Under the leadership of Argentine coach Guillermo Duró, the Cusco outfit deemed it necessary to bring in an additional option in midfield, leading the management to finalize the signing of young midfielder Xavi Moreno.

The 21-year-old had a notable season in the second division last year, being one of the most high-profile players at Deportivo Llacuabamba, where he established himself as a starter, playing 19 matches and scoring one goal.

Xavi Moreno is known for his speed and skill, attributes which could prove beneficial for Deportivo Garcilaso. Additionally, his experience playing the entire 2024 season in Huamachuco will make it easier to adapt to the high altitude of Cusco.

It is also notable that Moreno developed his skills at Sport Boys, making his professional debut in the 2021 season.

Now, as it begins its pre-season preparations, Deportivo Garcilaso is practically finalizing its squad. Coach Guillermo Duró expressed his satisfaction with the Celestial leadership, as they have so far secured the players he requested.
