Real Madrid: Modric on his way to 561 matches and a historic Top 10

Luka Modric continues to write the history of Real Madrid by joining the Top 10 of the club's most capped players. A feat that illustrates an exceptional career.

This evening, Luka Modric will write a new page in his exceptional career. By playing his 561st match in the white tunic against Valencia at Mestalla, the Croatian genius will equal two Real Madrid legends, Míchel and Pirri, to enter the Top 10 of players who have played the most matches with the Madrid club.

A symbolic step which illustrates the indelible mark left by the maestro in the history of football. As pointed out ASit’s just another step in a journey that continues to dazzle.

Modric, by matching Michel and Pirri, is not far from overtaking other iconic icons. The next goal is clear: surpass Camacho's 577 games.

And if the Croatian maintains his current consistency, he could reach 606 games by the end of the season, also surpassing legends such as Gento (600) and Hierro (602).

Modric: 6 Champions Leagues and a Ballon d'Or, distinctions that mark history

But Modric's impact is not limited to numbers. Two weeks ago, he lifted the Intercontinental Cup in Doha as captain, adding a 28th trophy to his incredible record.

Last August, he became the most successful player in Real Madrid's history thanks to the European Super Cup, surpassing the likes of Gento, Marcelo and Benzema. In October, he broke another record, becoming at 39 years and 104 days the oldest player to wear the white tunic, during a match against Sevilla.

Since his arrival in 2012, Modric has continued to shine and accumulate distinctions. His Madrid career began with a bang with a victory in the Spanish Super Cup, at the end of a Clásico against Barça.

Since then, he has enriched his record spectacularly: 6 Champions Leagues, 4 Ligas, 2 Copas del Rey, 5 Club World Cups, 5 European Super Cups and 5 Spanish Super Cups.

Without forgetting his Ballon d'Or won in 2018, a consecration after leading Croatia to a historic World Cup final in Russia. Each match, each trophy, each record strengthens the aura of Luka Modric a little more.

A unique player, whose elegance on the pitch and his accomplishments resonate like a true ode to football.
